Once in a Lullaby (Over the Rainbow / For What it's Worth / Ohio)

by Arrica Rose & the ...'s

about

Arrica Rose & the …’s most recent single Once in a Lullaby (available Oct 30th on pOprOck records) is a stunning mash-up of Over the Rainbow and classic protests songs For What it’s Worth and Ohio, with a lyrical nod to Woody Guthrie as well. It seamlessly blends these iconic songs together into a heartfelt reimagined statement about current political times. The single will also be included on Arrica Rose & the …’s 6 song EP slated for release early next year.

lyrics

Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
there's a land that I have heard of once in a lullaby

But there's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

Oh but somewhere over the rainbow way up high
there's that land I heard of once in a lullaby

So we gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know

That somewhere over the rainbow way up high
there's a land that I have heard of once in a lullaby

And now we gotta
Stop children what's that sound
Everybody look what's goin down
Stop children what's that sound
Everybody look what's goin down...

Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
There's a land that’s yours a land that’s mine
A land like a lullaby
A land that’s yours a land that’s mine
A land like a lullaby
